Location: Washington Park

Festival Sculpture

Value: $16,000

Artist Statement

Festival is comprised of two pieces of granite and deep red glass. The gray granite pyramid stepped base stone provides the foundation for the winged-like granite carving of Dakota mahogany. A squared cut-out in the center top of the sculpture displays the hand cut irregular oval piece of red glass. This sculpture exists solely to bring joy to the observer. The red reflections on the granite from the glass creates a festive and dynamic ambiance to the site. The eternal quality of the stone coupled with the subtle variations of the repetitive shapes create a satisfying and naturally life giving beauty.
