Artist Statement

Wamazon is a contemporary interpretation of a Greek amazon like the one at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. The figure is intended to have grace and power. The amazon women were warriors, but they were beautiful women also. I am limited in what I can shape in the aluminum sheet metal technique which I use. For example, it is very difficult to make drapery, so I must "paint on" a kind of drapery.
